Today (1.12.15) the ABC 738 played a story of Eddie Mabo and Mer (Murray) Island. I felt that I should tell listeners of the book "Drums of Mer", which has detail of this island and its people, but mainly, I told the ABC they should pay much more attention to the books by our favourite writer. The person to whom I spoke looked up Ion's biography on internet, and was impressed by what she found, to the effect that she will suggest a session on him and his books. I suggested there could be a weekly study of one or more of his books. I mentioned my dismay at their ignorance of HIS book on Kidman, and HIS book on Horrie the WOG (not War) Dog, as the ABC has presented recent articles on both, but without mention of Ion's books. Keep listening, perhaps something may come of my rant. Regards to you all.
