Prospecting for Gold 1979 and 1982: Why so Pricey?

A quick look online reveals these editions are on the market for between $100 and $350. This for a paperback of 296 pages, plus 8 pages of titles, intros, etc. (my 5th edition is 293 pages plus 10 pages of intros and is bigger and thicker; my 8th edition is 288 pages and 10 intro pages and is wider if not thicker) printed some 48 and 51 years after the original first edition and which retailed, according to my 1982 edition, for $3.95! I bought my copy fairly cheaply, but it is surprising that these editions (called the Arkon paperback edition 1979, reprinted 1982) sell for as much if not more than some earlier h/b editions. The question is why? Was it because of their limited runs (I don't know what they were) or because they were the last A & R editions or because Idriess died in 1979 or some other reason or reasons. Any ideas, anyone?
